For Seaview 180, the SV3 represents Bluelab Design's unwavering effort to develop the best full face snorkel mask on the market. Our extensive work in ergonomics, snorkel safety, and deep research into human physiology in breathing and CO2 exposure has culminated in this exceptional product. We prioritized ergonomics to ensure the best fit possible—not only to keep water out but to provide a fit that feels comfortable and natural. The SV3 resulted in a mask with the best testing in breathing effort, offering a natural and comfortable breathing experience. Additionally, the mask was meticulously designed to meet manufacturing needs and achieve critical cost targets, ensuring an accessible retail price point without compromising on quality.

DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

MARKET/CONSUMER RESEARH :: CONCEPT IDEATION :: ENGINEERING

SOURCING :: PRODUCTION

The Seaviews SV3 Mask project centered around concept and ergonomics development. This phase marks the beginning of innovation, emphasizing the importance of understanding form, function, engineering, fit, and performance. These elements are crucial in creating a successful product that meets the needs of users and stands out in the market.

concept development

Bluelab focused extensively on human ergonomics during the development of the Seaview SV3 Full Face Snorkel Mask. Using technical data, head forms, and other tools, the goal was to ensure the best possible fit. The design needed to create a secure seal to keep water out while also prioritizing comfort. Bluelab worked to find the optimal balance between sealing and comfort, reducing any discomfort or strain from pressure exerted by the mask and water.

ERGONMICS development

COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS (CFD)

Bluelab incorporated Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) into the design process of the Seaview SV3 mask to better understand and analyze air flow and gas mixing within the snorkel mask. The goal was to ensure that air flow maintained low pressure and CO2 levels. This testing helped ensure that the design met safety requirements and that the investment in producing a physical product was aligned with performance goals.

Physical Testing and Evaluation

At Bluelab Design, we dedicated extensive time and effort to the design and development of the Seaview 180 SV3 Full Face Snorkel Mask. Our meticulous approach ensured optimization for performance, safety, and user comfort.

We conducted rigorous testing and research, utilizing an external testing lab for scuba and snorkel equipment. This included field of vision assessments, CO2 breath-by-breath analysis, oxygen consumption studies, and mechanical, flow, and pressure proof testing. These tests ensured the SV3 mask met the highest standards of safety and functionality.

Our focus on ergonomics and human physiology ensured a natural and comfortable fit, maximizing breathability and minimizing CO2 exposure. The result is a snorkel mask that performs exceptionally well and provides an intuitive user experience. Bluelab Design's dedication to innovation and quality has helped Seaview 180 launch a product that sets a new benchmark in the market.

open water Physical Testing

Development included testing prototypes in the open ocean to validate fit, performance and function. Testers were invited to try several different masks in comparison of the SV3 design. Feedback was positive with everyone commenting how much easier it was breathing with the SV3 mask creating a much better snorkeling experience.
